Problem
The business always has long lines at checkout which leads to frustrated customers.
Solution
To create an application in order to help speed up the checkout process by allowing the user to scan their own items as they go. The user would then go to a designated checkout area where they would be able to avoid lines to pay and remove security tags quickly.
Scope
5 screens were created which included interactions and pop ups.
The Team
The team was comprised of a project manager, UX lead, a visual designer, a motion designer, and two developers.
Research
We created personas and a customer journey to think through the stages of the experience and opportunities we could solve for.
UI Styling
A style guide was created after analyzing the brands existing apps in order for the two applications to match visually. The UI uses flat color, line icons and bold text in styling of the app.
Color
The colors and fonts from the created style guide were then applied to this application in a way that highlighted and brought attention to the important parts of the page.
Prototype
A prototype was created in InVision and then was animated by the motion designer to bring the pages to life with page transitions and interactions.
Responsibilities
As the visual designer on the project, I analyzed websites and an existing application. I created a style guide to base the new app off in order to create a seamless brand experience. I also took charge of taking wireframes and turning them into fully flushed out designs which I then added to InVision to create a walkthrough prototype.
